Kenneth King has just been awarded (jointly with Pravina King) the 2012 Distinguished Africanist Award, by the African Studies Association of the UK. Kenneth King is author of Jua Kali Kenya (James Currey, 1996) and of China's Aid & Soft Power in Africa: The Case of Education & Training (James Currey, forthcoming May 2013). Kenneth King is Professor Emeritus, University of Edinburgh, where he was Director of the Centre of African Studies for 20 years. Since 2007, he has been international advisor for China's largest Institute of African Studies.
